The press conference on September 19, 2007 was just the latest in announcements that have rocked the NASCAR circuit this year. Team owner Rick Hendrick and Dale Earnhardt JR announced that Dale JR would be driving the 88 car in the 2008 NASCAR season. The 88 has previously been used by Robert Yates racing on their Ford Fusion and will now be a Chevrolet Impala owned by Hendrick Motorsports. In the press conference, they also announced that the sponsors for the new car in the Hendrick stable would be National Guard and Mountain Dew. Hendrick Motorsports is at the top of their game. Out of their four Nextel Cup teams, three of them are locked into The Chase and the fourth will finish not too far behind. Hendrick Motorsports has dominated the field for the 2007 NASCAR schedule. With a total of 12 wins and 11 poles between the teams, Hendrick Motorsports is the team to beat this year. Controversy at Talladega
February 20, 2008 by ryanickpaigeThe finish was one that every NASCAR fan hates. Finishing under caution. And if that wasn’t enough one of NASCAR’s most hated drivers ended up in victory lane. Jeff Gordon started in first and ended there as well. 43 drivers race around Talladega Super Speedway, the longest track on the NASCAR circuit, in hopes of winning the 9th race of the season. A fairly uneventful race that attempted to finish in “over drive”, a green, white, checker finish, but was ended with a caution. READ MORE
May NASCAR Events in Charlotte

The Craftsmen Truck Series starts the action on Friday night with the Quaker Steak & Lube 200. For 134 laps during the 6th race of the season the trucks will race around the track at speeds over 125 mph. READ MORE

Should NASCAR Change Its Name?

With things like the car of tomorrow, how can they still car it stock car racing? Perhaps NAMCAR would be a good name, National Association of Modified Car Auto Racing.
